Your team can now have a master calendar that can overlay up to 10 calendars over one another to create a calendar that the whole team can view, and each calendar is displayed in a different colour code. This is an excellent way for teams from project-based activities to see who is doing what and when they are doing it. It’s quite a simple task to set this up in Microsoft SharePoint. Once you are in the site or team site where you want to access the shared calendar, you can either create a new calendar list from the Site Actions menu or use an existing calendar. On the Calendar tab in the Ribbon, click ‘Calendars Overlay’ and then click the ‘New Calendar’ link to add a new calendar to the overlay view. Once you click on ‘New Calendar,’ the following screen will appear. You will need to give SharePoint information about the calendar that you are adding, such as a name and a clear description of what this or who this calendar is for. You will also need to have the URL of the site that houses the calendar. Note: this information will need to be supplied to you by your Information Technology Administrator. You can then add each subsequent calendar, and a maximum of ten calendars in total, the same way. Each calendar overlay will appear in a different colour making it easy to identify each member of the team and what appointments and meetings they have.How do your Excel skills stack up?
