How-to: Import Appointments from Excel to SharePoint 2013 Calendar

 Aug 23, 2016

If you have a list of appointments in Excel and you want to append them to your SharePoint calendar follow these steps:

  1. In Your SharePoint calendar click on the Calendar tab and select Open with Access
  2. SharePoint creates an .accdb file and lets you choose where you want to save it. This file will be linked to your SharePoint calendar. Click on OK.
  3. It opens the file in Access. Click on the EXTERNAL DATA tab and select Excel.
  4. Specify the Excel source file and then tick Append a copy of the records to the table and select Calendar from the drop down.
  5. Click on OK.
  6. If you wish, you can save this procedure in Access by checking the box Save import steps. Later on if you add more appointments to the Excel sheet, all you have to do is open the Access file you saved in step 2 above, and then go to EXTERNAL DATA tab and click on Saved Imports.

You now have the information inside your Access table. But remember, this table is linked to your SharePoint calendar. So if you switch back to SharePoint and refresh your calendar you should have the appointments there. You can now close your Access application.

Note: your Excel table should have the same column headings as your calendar.
