Managing performance – The good and the bad

 Aug 24, 2016

Performance management – a significant part of every manager’s job, and a highly resented one.

Managers are constantly working to deliver high productivity by maximising team performance and aligning individual efforts with organisational goals. More often than not, this means managers must deal with poor performance from employees.

How can managers successfully handle these undesirable confrontations?

Taking lead from professional services organisation Deloitte, there are three focus points of critical importance when it comes to performance enhancement:

  1. Compensation and measurement
  2. Making information about performance visible
  3. Improving and strengthening performance

Fee Hosking, one of New Horizons’ Professional Development trainers, explores how to handle non-performing employees in a fair, yet disciplined way.

These tips come from several courses on offer at New Horizons Learning Centres, such as Managing Performance, Managerial Leadership, and Team Leadership.
