Advancements in communication make distributed office environments and working remotely an ever more practicable option, but what about when you need to deliver a presentation? Getting all the right people into the same physical room can be a challenge. Fortunately, PowerPoint 2013 now makes it as easy as conducting a conference call. With PowerPoint’s new Present Online feature, colleagues and clients can view the presentation remotely from any internet enabled device and don’t even need to have PowerPoint installed.
This powerful feature is also easy to use, just follow the following steps.
- Click the 'File' button and then select 'Share' from the panel on the left. Under the Share options, select 'Present Online.' Ensure that 'Office Presentation Service' is selected and then click the 'Present Online' option. (Note: this can also be done by clicking the Present Online button on the Slideshow tab.)
- You may be asked to verify your email address. If so, type in a valid email and press 'Next.' You will be prompted for a password, type it in and then click 'Sign In.'
- Your presentation may take a few moments to load. Once the presentation is loaded, you will receive a link to share with remote viewers. You can either email this directly or copy the link and distribute it via Lync or a meeting invite. Then when you are ready, click Start Presentation.
- People receiving the link will be able to follow along during your presentation, or be able to download the file for viewing later.
- When you have finished presenting, press the 'Escape' key to come out of presentation mode (this can be done at any time, the viewers will continue to see the last slide shown), and then click 'End Online Presentation.' At this point, viewers will see a black screen with a message informing them that the Presentation has ended.
