Christmas is a warm and fuzzy season shared with loved ones over good food and drinks. While it's fun to get into the festive spirit, there will be over 25,000 Australian homeless families over Christmas and many more will struggle to pay bills and put food on the table; buying Christmas presents is completely out of the question. To help support the less fortunate in our community, New Horizons will be supporting the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal. This year, we are reaching out to our staff and students for donations throughout December that we will be able to pass along to the Salvation Army at the end of the year. So while you are doing your weekly food shopping, or buying Christmas gifts for your family or friends, please kindly pick up a little something extra to put under the Christmas Tree in one of our locations. Donations can come in all shapes and sizes. Here are some suggested donations:- Food: Non-perishable, preferably with an expiry date after April 2014, that can be used by families over the Christmas and New Year period.
- Unwrapped gifts: The reason the Salvation Army requests unwrapped presents is to allow parents to personally select suitable gifts for their children.
- Gift vouchers: What a great idea! They’re an ideal gift for older children and adults, or for a parent who doesn't want to miss out on the joy of purchasing their child a Christmas gift directly from the store.
