Domestic student application process

Applying is easy. But there are a few things you need to be aware of. First of all, it’s important to know that the application processes for Domestic students and International students are different, so please check you are viewing the Domestic section of the website before you start. If you’re a domestic student and reading this, then you’re in the right place.

To apply you will need two forms of ID, so it’s best to get copies of those early. You may also be asked for a Certificate of Completion of Year 12 or equivalent.


How to apply 


Step 1: Choose the Qualification you wish to study

  • Decide on the Qualification you wish to study
  • Check you meet the Entry Requirements
  • Complete and lodge the Application Form
  • Provide copies of two forms of ID: one of which must have a photo

We recommend you provide copies of your Driver’s Licence or Passport as ID.

Step 2: Arrange Payment

  • New Horizons will review your application and if accepted onto the course, you will be asked to pay your first Tuition Fee instalment. You can then arrange to make payment in instalments over the course of your study.
  • Alternatively if you are studying the Diploma of Project Management, you can apply for a VET Student Loan. With a VET Student Loan there are no upfront costs, but conditions do apply.

Step 3: Commence Study

  • Once enrolled, talk to us about arranging your study timetable
  • When you’re ready to commence, we’ll provide an orientation briefing
  • You are then ready to start

International student application process

To help make your study abroad experience as easy as possible, our Student Support Team are here to help every step of the way, including with the application process. If you have any questions, please ask. 


How to apply 

Step 1: Enrol

  • Decide on the Qualification you wish to study
  • Check you meet the Entry/Eligibility Requirements
  • Submit your Application Form
  • Provide certified, English language copies of your supporting documentation
  • If you meet the criteria you will receive a Letter of Offer from us
  • You will then be asked to pay your Enrolment fee.
  • On receipt of your Enrolment fee, we will provide you with a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)

Once you have your Confirmation of Enrolment letter, you can then apply for your student visa with the Australian Government. Please note students are responsible for arranging their own visa.

Step 2: Apply for your Visa

  • Before you can apply for your Visa you will need to purchase Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) – to find out more about this visit the Compare OSHC website
  • When you have your OSHC insurance certificate you can apply for your student visa directly through the Australian Government website or through a Migration Agent.
  • When the Australian Government have processed your application they will notify you, and New Horizons Australia Institute of Technology of your visa status.

Step 3: Travel to Australia

Once enrolled, we will arrange with you:

  • A pre-departure online briefing
  • Assistance for on-arrival transport
  • Advise you of your orientation briefing time
  • Advise of your student support officer meeting time

Before you commence your studies you will need to pay your Materials fee and the first 50% of your Tuition fees.

You will then be welcomed into your first class and assisted with social activities and support in finding your way around campus.
