What's this new AXELOS offering called RESILIA™?
Well, the short answer is:
"The RESILIA™ best practice portfolio is designed to help organizations improve their cyber resilience and protect themselves from cyber-attack."
In the leadup to our webinar: What is RESILIA™?, I thought I would give you a quick summary of the purpose of the RESILIA framework, and explain why it is important to you.
Developed by AXELOS, RESILIA™ is a process framework to help organisations embrace the digital age with cyber security skills. AXELOS has produced a cyber resilience best practices guide", which provides practical information to add to, as well as existing management strategies within IT operations, security and the management of incidents. Using the ITIL lifecycle process framework, it develops the knowledge and wisdom required to detect, respond to and recover from cyber-attacks.
When an organisation suffers a cyber-attack, it will incur losses in several areas such as financial, operational continuity, professional reputation, and most importantly a loss of customer confidence. If the staff are equipped with the knowledge and wisdom of how to handle the attack, the organisation will be cyber resilient and recover from the incident quickly.
The usual methodology of preventing attacks on assets and information has been based on managing the technical controls. This may have worked historically, but as the digital age is growing and the frequency of cyber-attacks is increasing, organisations need to be prepared for an attack. Cyber resilience prepares us for this expectation and how to mitigate it.
In the light of the ransomware attacks highlighted in the news recently, it is important that organisations are prepared to deal with the crisis a ransomware attack may present. Having processes in place could help mitigate any repercussions. It is not a case of “if” but rather “when” an attack will happen. Being prepared will help companies deal with it without going to the drawing board, as processes will have already been put in place. The RESILIA™ framework covers what we need to do.
Axelos has produced two courses for companies to familiarise themselves with the RESILIA™ processes:
Foundation and Practitioner certifications are directed at staff who manage areas where cyber security is required e.g. IT service management, IT Development, IT Designers and architects etc.
The Foundation course is a 3-day course followed by an exam and the Practitioner course is a 2-day course followed by and exam.
These two courses will prepare us for whatever the cyber community may throw at us. By equipping us with the knowledge of dealing with and recovering from a cyber-attack.
If you would like to know more about RESILIA™, join our webinar: What is RESILIA™? on 24 August.
