SharePoint 2016 social features

 Jul 18, 2016

In today’s blog article I will talk about some of the new social features in SharePoint 2016. SharePoint 2016 includes several social features such as the newsfeed page, OneDrive, user profiles, social communications and profile and expertise sharing. You can also integrate Yammer with SharePoint 2016. If Yammer is deployed in your organisation, then the newsfeed link will take you to the Yammer website and you will be able to use Yammer social features.

Using Yammer, you can post a question, arrange information in groups, initiate private messaging, follow people and conversations and also configure notifications just like SharePoint alerts.

You can interact with people by simply hovering the cursor on the name. You can send an email, start a chat conversation, and initiate a conference and video call.

In order for people to find you and get to know you better, you can populate the about me section. This option is in the welcome menu.

SharePoint 2016 also offers inline social which allows users to have conversation right inside their documents.
