Microsoft and Cisco team-up to fix Azure ExpressRoute Network Issues

 Jan 31, 2018

The cloud world is full of benefits, it is a huge enabler of innovation for organisations, but it also increases complexity. A transition to the cloud also means transforming the network, and new challenges for enterprise IT.

As Joseph Pinto, senior vice president of Technical Services at Cisco states in his blog “Cisco and Microsoft: Delivering fast, reliable, and secure cloud connection”  “In addition to increased complexity, enterprise IT must maintain the security and privacy of critical data, the delivery of reliable cloud services, loss of speed and data integrity, network integration, and limited or no connectivity. To help address these challenges, organizations can work with reliable cloud solution providers who can help develop, deploy and deliver fast, reliable cloud solutions and services.”

And this is where the partnership comes in. Committed to helping their customers navigate through technology transitions with continued innovation.

The new collaboration, that combines the cloud know-how of Microsoft with Cisco’s expertise in networking equipment and practices, originated to help address on-premises issues which often require deep technical networking expertise. Through this partnership Microsoft will be able to resolve the most challenging networking issues encountered by enterprise customers using Azure ExpressRoute.

Do you want to learn more about Microsoft Azure?”

ExpressRoute is an Azure service that enables customers to establish private network connections to the cloud with greater reliability, faster speeds, predictable latencies, and higher privacy than typical connections over the Internet.

Pedro Hernandez, contributor to eWEEK and the IT Business Edge Network concludes in his article that naturally, Microsoft and its ExpressRoute connectivity providers are adept at fixing any networking issues that may arise on their end. Networking problems that crop up on a customer's side of an ExpressRoute are another matter entirely.

By extending Cisco's slate of Solution Support offering to include Azure ExpressRoute customers will receive centralized support which enables them to quickly resolve issues and get their on premises environments connected to the Microsoft Cloud Platform.
