How-to: Screen recording in PowerPoint

 Dec 01, 2016

The screen recording tool in PowerPoint 2016 is a lovely addition to your PowerPoint media tools. It allows you to capture demonstrations and presentations for future use.

It is very easy to set up and run. Please make sure your windows are arranged on your screen before you begin. PowerPoint will hide the file you are in when you launch the tool and reveal the windows appearing just beneath.

When activated you first select the area of your screen that you wish to record.

You then can re-arrange the positioning of your open windows before beginning the recording. If your setup supports it, you can also record narration with the video. Once you start the recording, anything that passes through the defined screen area is captured. You can pause during your recording as needs be. After the recording is stopped, a copy of the recording is automatically inserted into your PowerPoint slide.

You can manipulate and animate this recording in PowerPoint as you would a video.

Until next time enjoy creating beautiful presentations in PowerPoint.
