How to pay

VET Student Loans

New Horizons Australia is an approved VET Student Loan provider. VET Student loans are currently available on the BSB51415 – Diploma of Project Management. If you meet the Australian Government’s VET Student Loan criteria, you could be eligible for financial support to study.

To find out if you are eligible, call us on 1300 794 006, email us at [email protected] or click the Ask a Question button.

How does a VET Student Loan work? A Vet Student Loan allows students to commence study with a no-upfront cost option. If you meet the course entry requirements and also meet the VET Student Loan requirements, students can then enter into a loan agreement with the Australian Government. You can then start to pay back the loan once you start earning above the repayment threshold. You can find out more at Study Assist Australia

Pay as you Go

If you’re not an Australian Citizen but want flexibility to help you study sooner, just ask us about our Payment Instalment Plan.

Students pay 50% at the time of commencement, then pay the outstanding balance in equal quarterly payments.

Please note that a 5% processing fee does apply which is payable on commencement of your studies.

Pay Upfront

Students can commence study at any time.

If you’re wanting to get the finances sorted and out of the way, New Horizons Australia will provide you with an invoice and payment details before you commence. All of the qualifications available through New Horizons Australia are GST exempt.

Payment must be made prior to commencement, but there is a cooling off period between enrolment and your due payment date.

VET Student Loans

The VET Student Loans program is an income contingent loan offered by the Australian Government that helps eligible students pay for some vocational education and training (VET) diploma level or above courses.

Students do need to fully inform themselves on how VET Student Loans work. The team at New Horizons can assist, but it’s important to note the following points:

  • VET Student Loans are only available to Australian Citizens who meet the loan conditions.
  • Students are required to pay back the loan until the loan is repaid when their taxable income exceeds the government set threshold; as of 1 September 2020 this is AUD$54,126 per annum.
  • A VET Student Loan gives rise to a HELP debt that continues to be a debt due to the Commonwealth until it is repaid.
  • Repayment rates are split into tiers based on income brackets. The more you earn the quicker you pay it back.
  • There is a 20% Government Loan Administration Fee which is calculated up front on the full value of the loan.
  • There is no Interest on the loan but it does increase with CPI (inflation).
  • Students who apply for, and are approved for a VET Student Loan, have a cooling off period of 48 Business hours. Students have a Census Date; this means that until this date, students are not financially liable and can cancel at any time.
  • Please familiarise yourself with New Horizons Statement of Tuition Assurance for Exempt VET Student Loans (VSL) Providers.
